Many speculation and unanswered questions caused by the book "The Amityville Horror" by Jay Anson, and many films still plague America today. However, The real amityville story behind the 112 Street Ocean aka "High Hopes" is much more frightening than anything Hollywood can be made from pure imagination.

In the early hours of November 13, 1974 Ronald "Butch" DeFeo Jr. shot and killed six members of his family as they slept in cold blood. Ronald DeFeo, Sr. (43), Louise DeFeo (42), and four of their children: Dawn (18), Allison (13), Marc (12), and John Matthew (9). All the victims were shot with a .35 caliber lever action Marlin 336C rifle. All of them were found lying face down in their beds "execution style."

The real amityville story shocked and changed not only the Amityville, NY, but changed America forever. We lock our doors at night to keep our families safe from the world is not so perfect "outside", of all the news that happened to "other people" but it can never happen to us. He said the plan was just to kill their parents, and for whatever reason Dawn decided to kill his brothers as well. "Butch" in a fit of anger over the barbaric murder of her family decided to kill Dawn. In fact, the later explanation actually makes sense! A few years after the assassination of gunpowder found on the dress worn by Dawn DeFeo, indicating he may have fired a weapon.

The most outrageous claim, but the most famous was that the voice of the devil in the house told him to slaughter his family. The story also takes a lot of changes, "Jodi" demon pig with glowing red eyes told him to do so. At 3 am the night the murder while "Butch" sits in the basement of the family watching tv "veiled female demon" appeared out of no where and handed the gun to be used to kill his family, and mysteriously disappeared.

With 5 of 6 from the DeFeo killed and the survivors only "killer" that just tells tall tales, the sad truth is we may never know the events that really happened that night in Amityville. "Butch" DeFeo is now incarcerated at Green Haven Correctional Facility, Beekman, New York and all appeals to the parole board has so far rejected.

Standard story that Ronald DeFeo woke up around 3:15 and for unknown reasons basically kill the entire family while they slept in their beds. First he used a rifle to shoot two people sleeping, then he moved to the two younger brothers, and later in an adjacent bedroom of his sister. He eventually moved to the third floor and kill the remaining sister, Dawn.

Ronald DeFeo Junior always claim that something else is in control of himself that night. That he had just come from a bad dream with a gun in his hand and saw the body whole family. So many holes were found in the version of the real Amityville horror still remains a mystery to this day. Why is no one at home or on the road up to the sound of gunfire? A shotgun blast loud enough, how could this have gone unnoticed? When interviewed, only one neighbor said they woke up at about 3:30 to hear the dog crying in the street.

We may never have the answer to one question about that night. It seems that the more you ask, the more confusing it all becomes. It is likely that the true story of Amityville horror will never fully revealed to us but will remain in the paranormal folklore for ever more.
